About Us.

The Backhand Lob© is a website/blog about tennis and all things related to this sport. It’s not like I’m a tennis oracle, to be completely honest I began playing once a week with my coworkers with a $30 department store racquet in 2010 and 2011. Since 2015, I have been playing tennis as a recreational player in the USTA leagues.

When I started playing in the USTA leagues in Puerto Rico, I became – as I suppose has happened to a lot of you – obsessed with this beautiful and challenging sport. I started watching a LOT of tennis mostly on The Tennis Channel and any other channel that had anything tennis related. All those hours spent in front of the TV and at the tennis courts playing in recreational leagues have taught me a lot about tennis, tennis players, umpires, tournaments, player’s struggles, tennis fashion, and others. Most importantly, tennis has taught me a lot about life, people, resilience, determination, and myself.

As you probably know, the backhand lob is not one of the most coveted shot in the tennis game. It is mostly a defense shot that usually does not get the spotlight – that is unless you have Andy Murray’s backhand lob –. The Backhand Lob© plans to exchange with you different perspectives and commentaries about the tennis world and other tennis’ things that usually don’t get the spotlight. We hope that you follow us and enjoy with us one of the most beautiful sports on planet earth.

Sincerely,

S. González

Tennis uses the language of life. Advantage, service, fault, break, love – the basic elements of tennis – are those of everyday existence, because every match is a life in miniature.
