Judy Murray raised two tennis champions: Jamie and Andy Murray. She played tennis herself for a short period of time in 1976 before deciding the professional tennis life was not meant for her. Her boys literally learned to play tennis by playing with her. She found a way through finance struggle to give both his sons the chance for a briliant tennis career. For this to happen, she had to make some difficult decisions so that both of them were succesful at the sport. She even experienced the fear of having lost her sons when there was a shooting at the Dunblane Primary School in 1996.

When she used to play tennis in Scotland there were no indoor tennis courts there, something much needed with its weather. So, she founded the Judy Murray Foundation with the mission of bringing tennis into rural and disadvantaged areas in Scotland. She is determined to make tennis part of Scotland’s life. Hey, she gave Scotland two tennis stars… so that’s quite a start!
Judy also likes to laughs and she diplays her sense of humor frequently on social media - just check her on Twitter or Instagram - !
Andy, whom we believe inherited his mother’s sense of humor, made fun of her because the first attempt of the mandarin picture just spelled ELL.
An inspired woman with a cause for tennis in Scotland but also with a deep understanding on the disadvantages that women live in the sports world, Judy knows about dreams, women’s struggle in sports, hardwork, fears, and humor.
On Mother’s Day we want to share with you this Judy interview made by Mary Carillo for the Tennis Channel.
